As one of the important calendar events of WWF Nepal ‘Earth Hour’ is the largest global movement. Now, eight years on, Earth Hour today shifts from an event to a movement through ‘Earth Hour Blue’ to  mobilize an interconnected global community for the sustainable planet.

In terms of the global network, Earth Hour has been very big for Nepal with Andrew Garfield the lead actor of Amazing Spiderman 2 who is also the first superhero ambassador for Earth Hour and who is backing up a project to provide biogas to 100 households in Nepal

Since Earth Hour is a campaign for anyone and everyone who wants to share a commitment to make this planet better, on the occasion of Earth Hour, WWF Nepal aimed to recruit at least one thousand members under ‘The Generation Green’ campaign so that we could provide an incentive and mechanism for the youth under the campaign to use their power and become a super hero for the planet.

This year the event was held in Swayambhunath Temple in Kathmandu on 29 March. The event highlights included signing up to The Generation Green Campaign which began from 3PM. The formal program began at 6 with a live acoustic performance by folk legend ‘Kutumba’, together with live art, slam poetry and a giant canvas with the theme ‘USE YOUR POWER; BUILD YOUR LIVING PLANET’ followed by messaging by TGG mentors and WWF ambassadors.
